about maegan

short version

What do you get when you take a creativity-obsessed girl and introduce her to Jesus and puppets at an early age? And why not give her some crazy children’s pastors for parents and nine younger brother and sisters? Oh and yes - of course, she was homeschooled.

Whatever you get, that’s what Maegan is and apparently, God decided the world needed one of her. And while she DOES love creativity and puppets, her real obsession is making sure every kid (no matter their age - so that means you, too!) knows God decided the world really needed one of them, too. Yep. God’s CRAZY about His kids and Maegan loves using a variety of creative arts to communicate His truths.

long version (ooh, you go getter)

Maegan is a creative communicator steeped in kids ministry. It started with her grandmother getting saved as a grownup at a VBS, falling in love with Jesus and kids ministry - her son did the same, grew up and married a girl with the same heart, they had a bunch of kids and before you knew it, it was a full blown family affair. So Maegan is third generation kid’s minister - or bred for it, whichever sounds less weird.

She grew up around puppets, but got “more serious” about it starting at age 9 and has been using puppetry and ventriloquism in children’s ministry ever since. She hit the road with her live show for churches right out of high school and has never been able to put the puppets down. She’s done a bunch of other stuff over the years, too (like acting, floral design, copywriting, styling, creative direction; trust me, it’s a weird list and it goes on) where the emerging thread has shown to be that God loves to get creative with our “yes.”

Other places Maegan’s “yeses” have taken her include working with Lifeway’s The Gospel Project curriculum as “Maegan and Jesse”, writing for VBS scripts, creating video content for churches, and most excitingly, marrying a very cool magician and having a (now 3 year old!) daughter with superb dimples. Maegan took a step back from her live shows when she married Jared (the magician) to hit the road with him (add magician’s assistant to that weird list!) and loved every second, but God’s been nudging her back to this with fresh dreams and she’s happy to give that her “yes” too. She still serves in her church’s kids ministry as a volunteer and will never stop championing kidmin workers - she believes in the power of the local church and the unique opportunity to make kids feel seen and Jesus known. Let us know how we can work together to keep making that happen!
